As the Archivist, one of my goals is to research and update historical information for our family. It can be rewarding and frustrating at the same time. I never know where or when I will find what I am looking for and sometimes I don’t see it. We have had an upsurge in descendant’s looking for their relatives this summer, and to our joy, we have added new headstones to our pioneer section because of that. Along those lines, I was contacted regarding a mother and three children that rest in our cemetery. Their family was going to be in the area and wanted to see where they were buried.
I researched the records to find the sites and was saddened to see none of them had first names. Not the mother and not the children. This happens frequently due to record keeping of the time. Even in newspapers, I will find an entry that simply states “wife of” or “child of”.
In this case the family brought a timeline with them and gave us a copy for our records. The Tarry family now has names. Mom: Agnes J. Tarry nee Abbott, children: Echo Nevada, 6 yrs; Freddie, 6 mos and Edith Irene, 6 mos. The family is looking into getting memorials and on the one for Echo Nevada they want to recreate what was originally on a wooden headstone.
In Loving Remembrance of Our Little Treasure.
Echo Nevada Tarry, Died October 31, 1892. Age 6 yrs. 3 mos. 29 Days.
Oh we miss you Echo Darling and we’ll miss you more & more For we know that you have left us Left us, yes forever more.
Ye, we miss you Echo Darling when we see your little chair Where you use to sit & sing You were so pure and fair.
But again we hope to meet you, In that Bright & Happy home, Where your Angel Feet will tread Around the bright Celestral Throne.
“O birdie I am tired now” Papa and Mama

Obituary for Ronnie Kevin Conston
Ronnie Kevin Conston passed away unexpectedly at home on April 26, 2018 in Truckee, California at the age of 52.
Ronnie is survived by his sisters, Shirley Priestley, of Oakland, California and Glenda Conston, of Napa, California; his brother, Brian Conston, of San Diego, California; and his niece, Courtney Marve Conston-Chism, of Dallas, Texas and a large extended family in California, Texas and Louisiana. His parents, Germon “Tiny” and Muriel, and his brother Marvin precede him in death.
Ronnie was born at Tahoe Forest Hospital on November 21,1965 in Truckee, California to Germon Conston Jr. and Muriel Marve’ Conston. He attended Truckee Elementary School, Tahoe Truckee High School and the local continuation school later completing his GED in Oakland, California. Ronnie spent most of his adult life in the Oakland area only returning to Truckee after his brother, Marvin’s death. Ronnie loved his dog, Cairo and playing his bass guitar, albeit too loudly. Ronnie was friendly and always willing to share whatever he had with a total stranger. Many will remember him as a constant joker. Ronnie was a loyal brother and cared deeply for his family.
Graveside Services will be held at the Truckee Cemetery located at the end of Jibboom Street, on May 11 at 11:00am. (www.truckeetahoemortuary.com)
